Job Description
Responsibilities
- Become familiar with the process controls and automation initiatives and challenges across the site and collaboratively identify project opportunities best aligned to skills
- Research methods to execute on project and propose solutions with recommendation on path forward
- Develop Proof of Concept (POC) prototypes for new programs and/or electromechanical systems within the project.
- Generate suitable upfront documentation to demonstrate understanding of functionality with appropriate consideration for safety and use as needed.
- Procure assemble and test hardware as needed following all test plans generated in the development phase.
- Document and communicate all results in a clear concise format.
- Support handoff to production team or provide guidance on path to production use.
Requirements
- Engineering major preferably electrical
- Ability to work creatively in multidisciplinary teams and strive for innovative solutions
- Experience in circuit design and analysis a must
- Experience programming in some combination of C# .NET Python LabView or other standard industrial protocol a major plus
- Experience with programmable logic (PLC) or deterministic controllers a strong plus
- Strong analytical skills a plus
- Citizen or permanent resident

- Work environment can range from office to lab to manufacturing floor.

Physical Requirements
- Able to perform physical tasks in various positions: standing crouching kneeling reaching
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Perform occasional lab or benchlevel test work as needed
Safety Requirements
- All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and COHERENT Corporate EHS standards.
- PPE may be required when entering manufacturing areas.
