Position Summary
The Department of Biomedical and Applied Sciences in the Indiana University School of Dentistry IUSD invites persons with a strong teaching background in immunology to apply for a fulltime tenure/tenuretrack position at either the rank of assistant associate or full professor. Rank will be determined based upon qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will join our team with an anticipated starting date of Jan 1 2025. IUSD has a national and international reputation of excellence in education patient care research and discovery. We therefore are seeking a skilled educator who demonstrates excellence and innovation in teaching related to immunology in the university environment. The primary responsibility for the position is didactic teaching. In addition the individual is expected to collaborate with research faculty with a focus on student research mentoring in the biomedical sciences portions of our predoctoral and graduate education programs. Our student research mentoring involves undergraduate predoctoral dental residents (M.S.D. and Ph.D. students. Service at the department school and campus level is expected. The preferred candidate will have a strong scholarly publication record substantiating the candidates expertise in immunology and/or scholarship of teaching immunology in higher education. We deliver a wide range of services and outreach to more than 20000 patients per year. We enroll approximately 800 students annually in degree and/or certificate programs in dentistry allied dental programs PhD and advanced dental specialty programs tailored to current and future needs of the professions and the communities we serve. The IU School of Dentistry is the only dental school in the state and educates 80 of the dentists practicing in Indiana. Over 12000 of our alumni are pursuing careers throughout the US and around the world.
