POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Status: 40 hours a week/ *Part Year position
Location: Union Corners 2674 Milwaukee Street Madison WI
Status: 40 hours a week/ *Part Year position and Full year position
Location: Red Arrow 2096 Red Arrow Trail Fitchburg WI
Status: 40 hours a week/ *Part Year position
Location: East Madison 30 Dempsey Road Madison WI
Pay: $16.21 to $16.70 an hour depending on education.
SUMMARY:
The Classroom Aide is responsible for assisting and partnering with the Teacher (and Teacher Aide) in developing and implementing a program of activities that promotes the social emotional cognitive and physical development of each child enrolled in a group in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards Wisconsin Child Care Licensing City of Madison Accreditation and Wisconsin Young Star standards. The duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Classroom Teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Experience working with children ages 35 preferably in a licensed child care setting
- Must have a warm and friendly personality be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and be able to relate well to children families staff and community
- Demonstrate effective listening oral and written communication skills
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Adult Child and Infant CPR certification within 6 months of employment
- Knowledge of basic first aid
- Have a valid drivers license (for Subs and Floats only)
- Must be willing to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program.
- Preferred bilingual particularly Hmong and / or Spanish
- Experience working with lowincome multicultural families preferred
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements for Classroom Aide l
- Documentation of completion of the Intro to Child Care Profession (or equivalent credit bearing course in Child Development/Early Childhood Education) that is required by Wisconsin Day Care License Requirement or must receive within 6 months of employment
Qualifications / Requirements for Classroom Aide II
- Documentation of completion of the Intro to Child Care Profession (or equivalent credit bearing course in Child Development/Early Childhood Education) that is required by Wisconsin Day Care License Requirement
- Documentation of enrollment and completion of at minimum one course towards the Preschool Credential OR CDA (Child Development Associate).
*Part Year employees have built in vacations which include summer break 2 weeks in winter and spring break (part year staff follow the school district calendar in which their program is located)
