About our partnership:

Stride is proud to be delivering program provision with the Western Sydney area for the Parramatta Medicare Mental Health Centre. The Medicare Mental Health Centres formerly Head to Health are an important part of the Australias reformed mental health and wellbeing system.

The Medicare Mental Health Centre is supported by funding from Wentwest Primary Health Network through the Australian Governments PHN Program.Parramatta Medicare Mental Health Centre provides the community with a free safe and welcoming space to access mental health advice supports and services through multidisciplinary approaches. Walkins will be welcomed services are confidential and no appointment or referral will be required.

About the service:

The services in Parramatta is funded by the Australian Government to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.The service is tailored to the needs of the community in regional NSW and provides a combination of peerled recovery and clinical support.

The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress providing an alternative to presenting to the Emergency Department for low risk individuals and allowing them to access support from trained mental health professionals within their community outside a clinical setting.

Role Overview:

  • Coordinate student placements (Occupational Therapy Psychology and Social Work) for the service and maintain relationships with relevant universities
  • Support the onboarding induction and field supervision of students
  • Where appropriate provide task supervision mentorship and support to the Medicare Mental Health Centre clinicians
  • Support and lead the development and facilitation of internal clinical education and training for Stride and agency partnership staff
  • Coordinate and lead therapeutic group Community of Practice
  • Participate in research and evaluation activities as appropriate
  • Work collaboratively and support the integration of Medicare Mental Health Centre broader workforce development plan
  • Maintain clinical knowledge in line with contemporary skill and practice and a commitment to ongoing professional development

Requirements:

  • Must have the following: AHPRA registration as a Psychologist
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain Board Approved Supervisor status
  • Demonstrated experience and theoretical knowledge in providing education and mentoring to students and staff in a healthcare setting/ workplace and awareness of the principles of individual learning.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in providing clinical/ reflective practice supervision.
  • Highly developed communication (including written) and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of people.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise meet deadlines work well under pressure and manage communications and information with other staff.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold aWWCC
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
