Job Description

Position Overview

This strategic position is responsible for leading a diverse team in implementing continuous improvement projects that maximize value in the sites production of Safe Quality LowCost Tons (SQLCT) in compliance with all Safety Health and Environmental Policies. The Process Improvement & Controls Leader plays a vital role in driving operational excellence and ensuring steady improvement in all areas. The successful candidate will have significant input into the strategic business plans and technological direction of the site and ensure alignment with Tronoxs strategy for success. They must be able to interact and communicate effectively with various levels of professionals from the shop floor to site leadership to executives and with diverse cultures across the organization.

Role and Responsibilities

Accountable for managing the achievement of Site and Technology & Improvement (T&I)priorities including Operations support Strategic/Business Improvement initiatives Project support Control System Strategies and Asset Plans Continuous Improvement of key plant metrics and significant contributions to the Site Technology Roadmap and longterm Business Plans.

  • Prioritize work activities for the Process Improvement group to align with Site and T&I business objectives.
  • Serve as a Functional Lead directly supporting project development and directing others in the group.
  • Coordinate participation in Centers of Excellence (CoE) related to their group.
  • Contribute to the development of the Technology Strategy and associated roadmaps.
  • Manage the idea pipeline in alignment with the Technology Strategy.
  • Ensure projects are handed over/executed in accordance with Capital Workstream Management procedures.
  • Responsible for the optimum availability and functionality of the process control systems and applications.
  • Guide production teams in the implementation of process control models strategies and other methods of ensuring SQLCT.
  • Lead the sites Advanced Process Controls initiatives delivering business results and developing key resources.
  • Lead and direct Technical Feasibility Studies to support the strategic vision.
  • Provide strong support for the sites sustainability improvement initiatives.
  • Manage 3rd Party vendor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for Control Systems.
  • Consistently apply and use Outward Mindset Principles and Tools

Physical Requirement

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional standing for extended periods and walking long distances between work areas
  • Occasional ascending/descending stairs and working in outdoor weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times

Qualification

  • Bachelors degree in a related science or engineering discipline; Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • 10 years of related experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in team building and team motivation.
  • High degree of both business and financial acumen.
  • Ability to present ideas good verbal and written communication skills required
  • Exceptional human relations skills are required.

Located on approximately 3000 acres of beautiful landscape in Northeast Mississippi the Hamilton facility is Tronoxs largest titanium dioxide manufacturing facility. In operation for more than 60 years the plant continues to stand the test of time by continuously growing and developing new technologies and strategies.
