- Minimum 12hour schedule/week (flexibility for intern to choose schedule within organization work hours)
Workplace Location
MakeAWish Central & South Texas has offices in Austin and San Antonio that are open for use by all staff and interns. Our interns have the flexibility to work remotely/from home but will be expected to work inoffice at least one day a week. This internship position is only available in our Austin office. All internships require the individual to be residing in our chapter territory throughout the duration of the internship period for inperson activities such as wish reveals and fundraising events.
Internship Overview
MakeAWish Central & South Texas internships are intended for college students and/or recent graduates seeking to gain handson work experience in the nonprofit industry. Our internship can fulfill academic course credits through most colleges and universities.
As the Marketing & Communications Intern you will play a critical role in storytelling donor engagement and elevating the MakeAWish Central & South Texas brand. This handson opportunity will allow you to gain realworld experience in nonprofit marketing while making a meaningful impact. Job Description: Communications & Marketing Intern

- Assist in identifying and crafting wish stories for newsletters website features press releases donor engagement and other marketing materials.
- Develop and schedule content for our primary social media channels (Facebook Instagram LinkedIn) and manage the editorial calendar.
- Design marketing collateral for events including programs signage and PowerPoint decks.
- Capture photo and video content at wish reveal parties galas and other internal/external events as needed.
- Assist Mission team with department needs when applicable

- Writing and editing skills required.
- Proficiency in Canva and PowerPoint required.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Constant Contact and/or video editing is a plus but not required.
- Must have reliable mode of transportation to travel across chapter territory as needed.
- Ability to learn quickly work independently problem solve and manage multiple projects in a fastpaced environment.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be comfortable making phone calls on behalf of the organization.
- Professionally represent the MakeAWish brand with internal and external stakeholders.
- Displays professionalism and quality customer service and delivery skills.
- Ability to deal with sensitive information with a high level of trust and confidentiality.
- Experience or basic knowledge of most Microsoft computer programs including Outlook Microsoft Teams Word Excel and PowerPoint.
- Bilingual/Spanish First Language is a plus.
- Experience with nonprofit databases (e.g. Raisers Edge Salesforce) is a plus but not required.

- One letter of recommendation from a professional or academic reference is required in addition to a resume and cover letter to complete your application. The recommender can email the letter directly to our internship committee to
- Must include a storybased/PR/media writing sample (no academic papers) or social media copy samples under Additional Files section on first page of application. A graphic design portfolio and/or document with links to online portfolio or videography samples are welcomed but not required.
