Primary Purpose
The Instructional Assistant will serve as an Instructional and Lab Assistant; assist the primary course instructor in the education of students using state approved criteria to teach select and conduct hands on learning experiences appropriate for meeting objective for the classroom. Under direction of and providing support to faculty by preparing labs organizing supplies/equipment and observing student performance and testing.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prepare laboratory environments for instruction by assembling necessary resources. Assist faculty with demonstrations observation and evaluation of student essential skills performance. Maintain records of activities undertaken in the laboratory which may include typing forms inputting data or otherwise retaining information regarding students and their progress in meeting instructional goals. Reinforce knowledge and skills introduced by the course faculty. Clean and maintain instructional lab equipment. Cleanup of laboratory sessions. Support department faculty with copying class materials stapling and holepunching; sort papers and/or supplies. Perform other duties as assigned. Assist Program Director with completion of MAERB faculty workbook and documentation required for accrediting body approval.
Minimum Requirements
Medical Assisting certificate/degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher learning that includes course work equivalent to the uniform certificate degree in Medical Assisting as approved by the Oregon State Board of Education and offered by Oregons community colleges. One year of experience in Medical Assisting or other related field Certifications/Licensing: Medical Assisting CMA or CCMA or LPN RN MD DO or PA Medical Assisting credentialing must be in good standing as specified below or one or more of the following RN LPN PA MD DO Medical assistants must be credentialed in good standing in medical assisting by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies NCCA or the American National Standards Institute ANSI . The CMA or RMA credential is preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Continuing education or courses in a related field. Prior work experience of approximately 5 years in teaching coaching or assisting in a laboratory setting. CPR /First Aid Certificate.
