Job Description

RELIEF Mental Health Direct Care Professionals

(Relief Residential Services Technician)

Ocean Street

Pay rate: $20.50/hour $4/hour shift differential for hours worked between 10p 8a

The Opportunity Alliance is seeking Relief (per diem) Mental Health Direct Care Professionals(Residential Services Technician) to join ourOcean Street residential program.

The Ocean Street Residential Program with a capacity of eight residents provides traumainformed treatment and support services to adults living with mental illness complicated by cooccurring chronic health conditions as well as a potential substance use disorder.

The Relief RSTs are technical positions that provide direct services in support of the lives of people living in residential programs.

TheRELIEF Mental Health Direct Care Professional:

  • provides direct service in the residential group care or transitional living setting
  • provides personal support and supportive counseling to our residents.
  • is a part of a clinical team utilizing the tasks of daily living as instrumental treatment components while also helping to create a sense of permanency with a home like environment.
  • contributes to identifying needs or emerging needs physical and mental health wellbeing medication administration personal support watchful oversight and milieu management.
  • maintains clean and organized facility
  • maintains staff office charts and documentation.

These positions attend weekly or biweekly program staff meetings and participate in other meetings as is performed reviewed and evaluated under the supervision of the Program Director or Program Coordinator.

Schedule: This is a relief (per diem) position; There is no set schedule and hours cannot be guaranteed. Day evening overnight shifts.

These positions vary with hours. The program operates on a 24 hour/day 7 days a week basis. Willingness to have availability on weekends/holidays is required.

Location: Onsite in South Portland ME

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelors degree or equivalent training in mental health preferred.
  • Must become certified as Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician 1 (MHRT1 within 1 year of employment; then maintain required trainings to uphold continuous MHRT1 status.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Must pass CNA registry check
  • Must be able to pass preemployment physical and TB screen.
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with occasional standing walking reaching stooping bending kneeling crouching typing and frequently lift and carry small children or material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required

***This role is required by the State of Maine to have proof of immunization or documented immunity against rubeola (measles) mumps rubella (German measles) varicella (chicken pox) hepatitis B (optional) and influenza. Medical exemption may be accommodated with a written statement from a licensed medical professional. The Agency may assist with obtaining vaccines or proof of immunity if needed.
