Job Description
ACAP is a communitybased organization that has been supporting the empowerment and economic upward mobility of vulnerable residents of Albany County for over 55 years. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community & Career Specialist to provide job readiness and vocational services to our ACAP customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for connecting our customers to community aid and resources and assisting them in developing and defining steps toward goals that enhance selfreliance and greater community interdependence.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct employment assessments and generate employment goal plans with customers and provide postemployment and career counseling to customers who have found employment;
- Facilitate workshops and lead discussions in ACAPs Career Center regarding topics such as job readiness job retention skills and behaviors and financial literacy and asset development;
- Conduct selfsufficiency assessments and assist customers in creating an action plan to achieve goals;
- Work with community partners to connect families with local resources and events;
- Assist with customer outreach and enrollment in ACAP programs and services; and
- Collect data and maintain records.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum High School Diploma or G.E.D and at least two 2 years of experience in human services or communitybased organization is required. Undergraduate degree in Human Services Social Work or a related field is preferred. Family Development Credential is a plus. Basic computer skills including database entry word processing and spreadsheet skills are required. Experience with employment support case management and a familiarity with local service providers and employers desired. Bior MultiLingual is a plus.
