How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW

The HSE Manager is responsible for employing techniques and experience to influence key stakeholders enhancing safety related leadership behaviors that are necessary to support site operation and zone leadership levels. This role develops action plans across NAM to complement entity HSE objectives and accomplish goals that address areas of HSE opportunities. Closely measures and monitors operations safety performance; Works closely with operations at site and regional levels to promote desired work behaviors; Creates structured processes to measure and communicate safety performance and may be appointed as a core HSE program(s) owner leveraging deep experience and skill sets to drive continuous improvement and effectiveness of HSE processes. Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal relationship communication and conflict resolution skills are required as this role will work closely with business unit zone managers directors peer HSE leaders and vice presidents to identify and resolve compliance policy and responsible care requirements.

  • Owns the and monitoring of HSE processes within scope including identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Works collaboratively with peer HSE managers and directors to identify and improve common HSE processes.

  • Develops and implements HSE standards work instructions guidelines and communicates change management plans.

  • Acts as a liaison between HSE functional areas and business operation stakeholders through structured leadership standard work and scheduled touch point cadence.

  • Develop a culture of trust with all AL NAM employees by establishing and cultivating relationships through effective interactions and timely response to employee concerns and requests.

  • Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines.

  • Proactively develop and implement HSE key performance indicators that measure and track HSE support performance (e.g. metrics improvement goals resource prioritization etc..

  • Represents Air Liquide during agency inspections.

  • Support external customers (commercial or regulatory) as a primary contact to resolve noncompliance atrisks conditions or customer needs.

  • Drive culture transformation principles to HSE excellence in responsible geographies such that compliance imperatives with all HSE rules and regulations is understood achievable and interdependent HSE leadership practices are established.

  • Influence and drive the delivery of all HSE activities in manufacturing facilities and commercial areas (offices Sales Warehouses) capability processes new operations startup site closures HSE KPI reporting regulatory compliance and culture assessments.

  • Manage a team of HSE Specialists to further advance safety culture and alignment across NAM Business Units implementing best practices and encouraging employee ownership.

  • Ensures vertical alignment with HSE strategic objectives by setting annual goals and through regular scheduled assessments of HSE Specialist standard work.

  • Exemplify leadership qualities to ensure employee development of direct and matrixed reports knowledge acquisition and optimum use of talents and capabilities.

  • Creates a discipline and focus around developing talent promotes an environment allowing everyone to bring their best selves to work empowers HSE specialists partners to act in the best interest of the company and regularly recognizes others contributions and accomplishments.

  • Work closely with NAM and AL corporate peers to develop north america HSE efficiencies.

  • Adopts a holistic perspective that considers data analytics customer insights and different parts of the business when developing improvement plans and contributing to the HSE strategy.

  • Demonstrates curiosity and a growth mindset fosters an environment that supports learning innovation and intelligent risktaking; and exhibits resilience in the face of setbacks.

  • Partners closely with audit and training support groups to align strategic goals for HSE improvement initiatives.

  • Develops turn around (TAR) maintenance and improvement project HSE support schedules and activities with crossfunctional teams including operations and HSE Specialists

Required Qualifications And Competencies:

  • Bachelors degree in a HSE field or STEM discipline required. Masters degree preferred.

  • 10 years in a professional HSE operations role working in industrial gas energy manufacturing or construction operations. Advanced degree may be substituted for years of experience requirements.

  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for nonimmigrant visa sponsorship.

  • Established a professional career with proven results in an EH&S background

  • Experience leading a multisite team including motivating coaching and developing

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50 including domestic and outside united states travel

  • Advanced understanding with application of compliance standards.

  • Advanced understanding with application of risk assessment methodologies and tools.

  • Advanced understanding of life safety elements including confined space entry; energy isolation; fall protection; and process safety management.

  • Auditor certification or demonstrated experience.

  • Project Management certification or demonstrated experience.

  • 5 years of supervisory experience of professional direct reports.

  • Ability to routinely work and coach others on managing multiple complex HSE projects where analysis requires indepth evaluation of factors.

  • In depth understanding of Dupont HSE culture theory and practical field implementation of pragmatic methods to facilitate and sustain HSE interdependent culture improvements.

  • Acts as an altruistic servant leader and is consistently humble selfaware honest and transparent.

  • Consistently employs effective techniques to make key points tightly and coherently.

  • Thinks critically and influences others to foster shared HSE ownership.

  • Presents information regularly in meetings at varying levels of operations and senior management.

  • Thinks through the implications of industry and regulatory developments in their areas of expertise.

  • Manages self and coaches others to analyze and resolve compliance issues with practical solutions.

  • Evaluates and forms insightful opinions about relevant analytical issues and contributes new ideas when working through a problem.

  • Advanced understanding in the application of data analysis and problem solving techniques (e.g. lean six sigma statistical tests risk management 5why fishbone analysis 8D TapRooT etc)

  • Share opinions in a straightforward respectful manner even when it is difficult or unpopular.

  • Routinely demonstrates active listening skills and empathy to understand audience viewpoints.

  • Ensures work consistency and provides direction to team on: time management priorities and schedule to accomplish goals and objectives.

  • Coordinates with peers on change management efforts for new and modified HSE documentation and processes.
