This is as fulltime position located at the Capitol Annex Building in Baton Rouge LA.
About this position:
The Cultural Program Coordinator conducts professional work for the Louisiana Division of the Arts focusing on developing research initiatives and statewide programs aimed at promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of Louisianas Folklife traditions. As such this position is aimed disseminates information creates and curates tours and provides input for communitybased programs. This position is internally referred to as the Folklife Director in the Office of Cultural Development.
Conducts Research Initiatives:
30 Designs develops and implements research strategies for initiatives on Louisianas traditional cultures and strategies to present the findings to the public such as exhibits publications touring etc. Develops and maintains evaluation and assessment tools for research.
10 Disseminates research and/or findings through community partnerships appropriate digital outlets (social media websites) live presentations the Folklife Commission printed content (brochures books etc. and coordinated exhibits.
Community Partnerships/Initiatives:
30 Functions as a liaison and coordinates statewide and national programs or partnerships as appropriate. These may include but are not limited to National Endowment for the Arts initiatives (within related disciplines) South Arts Programming National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) statewide service organizations such as the Louisiana Partnership for the Arts (LPA) the legislated Folklife Commissionwhich serves as an advisory body to the Department of Culture Recreation and Tourismand community partners.
5 Implements special grant initiatives related to Folklife including but not limited to the Louisiana Folklore Society. Oversee the grant process including meetings and site visits timely reports and any needed grant request assistance.
Information Clearinghouse:
20 Maintains web content for the Folklife program and regularly updates OCD staff and the Folklife Commission with information regarding programs for social media and other needs. Assists in producing and formatting data for legislators the Folklife Commission and community as needed. Disseminates information to folklife organizations to facilitate networking and increase awareness of the states programs and other in the state.

5 Completes other duties as assigned.
Employee uses the following analytical technical and knowledgebased skills to fulfill job responsibilities: defining policy issues identifying resources implementing strategies per LDOAs strategic plan and coordinating tasks with written reporting. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Access Excel PowerPoint Word) and other media platforms for managing and presenting data. Possesses expertise in arts disciplines nonprofit management industry trends and Louisianas diverse cultural traditions with preferred experience in folklife.

Function of Work:
To coordinate Division of the Arts programs and serve as senior technical advisor for assigned program areas.
Level of Work:
Advanced.
Supervision Received:
Broad direction from Cultural Program Manager or higher level personnel.
Supervision Exercised:
May serve as lead worker over Cultural Program Analysts and/or other cultural program staff.
Location of Work:
Department of Culture Recreation and Tourism Office of Cultural Development Division of the Arts.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Cultural Program Analysts by the presence of responsibility for program coordination.
Differs from Cultural Program Managers by the absence of responsibility for total supervision of professional cultural program staff and management of cultural programs.
May coordinate the following cultural development programs: folk life crafts marketing visual arts design arts literature dance music theater presenting and touring percent for art public art state art collection arts in education general operating support local arts agencies and Decentralized Arts Grants.
Serves as senior technical advisor for assigned programs. Assists the Cultural Program Manager in division programming and recommends concurrence on policy and procedure approval.
Researches designs implements and evaluates current and longrange plans procedures guidelines and policies for arts programs in accordance with federal and state regulations and recommends appropriate revisions.
Designs and implements orientation training and support programs for panelists touring artists community development coordinators and organizations applying for grants.
Appoints independent panelists to evaluate grant applications and recommend funding.
Advises and provides technical assistance to regional community development coordinators touring artists arts organizations schools and universities and other entities outside the arts on programs policies procedures laws and regulations.
Conducts technical assistance and program development workshops.
Represents the state and department by presenting information on state arts programs at regional state and national conferences and forums. Serves on national and regional granting panels to evaluate grant proposals and recommend funding.
The following refer to the Folk life Program:
Designs and develops research strategies for Louisianas traditional cultures. Conducts and/or supervises field research.
Determines appropriate interpretative format and strategies to accomplish it.
Reviews and writes grants to federal regional public and private agencies for state projects.
Recruits participates in interviews recommends approval for hiring and supervises Regional Folklorists. Recruits interviews and hires Folk life Assistant and student interns.
Directs and coordinates state commission mandated by state law.
