Job Description
The City of East Point GA is recruiting for an InformationTechnology Director. This is highlyresponsible technical and administrative work that is responsible forevaluating designing and maintaining the complex computer and networkingsystems in the city. Work is performed under the general supervision of theCity Manager.
The IT Director will plan implement andmanage the Information Technology (IT) and Geographic Information System (GIS)operations and activities of the City of East Point.
The position will provide leadership and administrativeoversight to the City department and staff members responsible for thedevelopment maintenance and operation of IT and GIS services. Services includetechnology planning business applications support GIS/911/Police technologyoversight network services and management cyber security assessmentsdesktop/mobile systems sustainment telephone systems upkeep and web/internetservices coordination.
Work involves significantengagement with the City Managers office and other departments. Serving as amember of the Citys leadership team collaboration and communication are key.This is to ensure the incorporation of the Citys mission and vision inoperational activities.
In addition to managingdaytoday financial operations the IT Director plays a crucial advisory roleto the City Manager Mayor and City Council providing expert guidance ontechnology policy future trends for the use of technology in local governmentand assessment of the vulnerabilities of the Citys network. This role involvespresenting data and analysis making recommendations for technologydecisionmaking and developing strategies to optimize the use of citytechnological resources.

Named for its location as theeastern terminus of the Atlanta & West Point Railroad East Point began asa small railroad settlement with just 16 families in 1870. This position will be counted on to lead their department independentlyand to maintain and improve the citys infrastructure to meet the communitieshigh expectations.The position requires the successful candidate to meet thefollowing qualifications:
- Bachelorsdegree required in Information Systems Computer Science InformationTechnology or related field.
- Mastersdegree preferred.
- Operationand administration of SQL server.
- Five(5 to seven 7 years of progressively responsible related experience withtwo 2 years in a supervisory position.
- Localgovernment experience preferred.
- Equivalentcombination of education and experience.
