Job Description
Faculty professional development is an institutional priority and features prominently in our strategic plan Embracing the Tradition and Envisioning the Future. The Executive Director will lead a unit inclusive of the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning whose mission is to partner with and support faculty at all stages of their careers furthering excellence and innovation in teaching learning research and professional growth. In support of the universitys strategic plan the Exceutive Director will: Provide direction and leadership to campuswide faculty professional development in close collaboration with campus partners Develop implement and assess bestpractice programming to support teaching and learning with particular attention to faculty development in appreciative student support strategies highimpact practices and engagement of students from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of preparation Develop implement and assess programming to support faculty scholarly productivity progress towards career milestones inclusion and diversity and the development of academic leadership Collaborate with academic departments and colleges to support strategic initiatives outreach and impact Foster a culture of continual faculty development through facultyled sharing of best practices and engaged learning in a community of faculty scholars Lead and manage unit staff develop and manage faculty fellows plan and manage budget and generate reports
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to energize and lead faculty professional development Initiatives that address the breadth of the professorate (e.g. teaching excellence scholarly pursuits progress towards career milestones) Demonstrated knowledge of theories and evidence of successful implementation and assessment of bestpractices in higher education faculty professional development A record of success in prior leadership positions including a demonstrated ability to build coalitions leverage talent manage a complex budget supervise personnel and develop and implement strategic priorities in alignment with institutional goals Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong visioning and strategic planning abilities Demonstrated success in working with internal and external partners
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with creating and/or implementing faculty diversity initiatives Demonstrated success in developing implementing and/or assessing faculty development in appreciative student support strategies and/or highimpact practices and/or engagement of students from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of preparation Demonstrated ability to secure external funding particularly for faculty development initiatives Demonstrated success in developing implementing and assessing a faculty fellows program Demonstrated success in leading diversity and inclusion initiatives focused on students and/or faculty
