Unit Technicians assist with patient care to support the nursing practice of the unit under the direction of a registered nurse and/or licensed medical professional. The Unit Technician carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. The Cardiac Unit Technicians provide 24/7 continues surveillance analysis and interpretation of patients heart rhythm patterns blood pressure and continues pulse oximetry (spO2 for inpatients. The ED Technician collaborates with nursing and consultants/providers when patient parameters are abnormal or critical. The ED Technician identifies and activates medical emergencies response plans (performs assigned duties i.e. Lucas device procurement and application). The ED Technician is responsible for performing ECGs and splinting along with other duties as assigned in the emergency department setting as directed by licensed medical personnel.
18 years old and completion of 12 college credits OR High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.
Basic computer knowledge and skills required. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines required. Must demonstrate excellent organizational communication writing and listening skills. Ability to work effectively in a team setting and be flexible required. Knowledge of medical terminology required. BLS certification included in orientation program; successful completion required prior to first day in patient care.
