Description

Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are wellestablished Manhattan communitybased agencies that support services to approximately 30000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York Citys leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children youth and families homeless individuals and older adults throughout Manhattan and New York City. We work every day for a fair and just society where all people have the opportunity to make choices that lead to better lives for themselves and their families. The Isaacs Center focuses primarily on the needs of children and lowincome families outofschool and outofwork youth and aging New Yorkers. We operate at community centers located in the neighborhoods of East Harlem and Yorkville and seek to deliver programs that are impactful innovative and intergenerational.

Program Description: Goddard Riverside is excited to announce the agency is diving back into settlement roots and becoming a resource to Asylum Seekers in New York City! Goddards newest endeavor will be a Sanctuary Site for migrant families. This site will be a place where families can feel safe receive resources and support while becoming acclimated and part of the community.

Purpose of Position: is to serve as lead RA for the scheduled shift and is responsible for assuring the general welfare and safety of the residents staff and the facility. The Senior RA is expected to ensure quality service deliverables by overseeing the daily residential services and inspections in order to ensure that all residents goals targets and performance outcomes are met on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Residential Aid staff are the first welcoming face new families are greeted by!

Schedule: SundayThursday 7am3pm; 3pm11pm;11pm7am. TuesdaySaturday 7am3pm; 3pm11pm

Salary Range: Between$43000 to $47000

Bilingual: $45000$47000
Nonbilingual: $43000$45000

Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidates number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.

Roles Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Serve as the Senior Residential Aid and ensure all RA responsibilities are being conducted effectively and efficiently based on agency protocols.
  • Assist in the monitoring and development of residents daily independent living skills.
  • Monitor and ensure quality intake services are being provided to clients.
  • Cultivate professional and positive relationships with families.
  • Utilize evidencebased practice models including person centered planning motivational interviewing trauma informed care culturally aware and strengthsbased approaches.
  • Escort clients via public transportation to appointments as needed.
  • Facilitate and participate in social emotional driven learning groups and activities for families.
  • Perform and confirm all daily room and bed inspections are taking place.
  • Manage operations desk: ensure documentation of client whereabouts answer phones when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with building staff to assist tenants and ensure tenant safety.
  • Document incidents onsite in CARES and send to Goddard Incident Report Committee.
  • Report any concerns on quality service deliverables to management in a timely manner.
  • Monitor common areas to ensure proper usage.
  • Conduct intakes during evenings overnights and weekends as needed.
  • Document in CARES intake system and ensure all clients are admitted in a timely fashion.
  • Provide daily food service and ensure food delivery is stored immediately.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of the building and monitor common areas.
  • Participate in staff meetings where resident issues operations policies procedures and program outcomes are discussed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/ Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in shelter or residential setting.
  • Fluency in English and any language required to effectively meet the linguistic needs of our diverse resident community is essential.
  • Food Protection Certificate will be required during first few weeks of hire.

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

  • Cultural awareness and understanding of client centered care.
  • Passion for working with individuals and families who are in transitional housing.
  • Excellent communication skills able to utilize deescalation techniques.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records to prepare and submit all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner Knowledge of DHS requirements and protocols.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion.
  • Must be able to multitask with strong organizational skills.
  • Detail orientated and systems savvy.
  • Compassionate and personable
  • Teamorientated

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully an individual should be:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook OneDrive Excel etc.
  • Able to use or learn multiple databases including CARES.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent bending kneeling walking climbing and lifting to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Residence is in a Hotel Setting
  • Designated kitchen area to serve food.
  • Occasional visits to client rooms
  • Escort residents to appointments as needed.
  • Outdoor work required.
