Job Description

Reporting to the Dean School of Business and Professional Studies the FT Faculty Director Innovation and
Entrepreneurship Center (IEC) is responsible for developing and championing innovation and entrepreneurship
activities and programs on campus and in the community. The Director will also teach a variety of introductory and
upperlevel undergraduate business and entrepreneurship courses and organize cocurricular activities. Teaching
flexibility is highly desired.

Essential Job Functions:

Identify and develop strategic private and corporate partnerships to support IEC activities and operations.
Develop and schedule IEC workshops courses and curriculum.
Facilitate and lead IEC education seminars.
Develop a network for entrepreneurial and innovation training.
Ensure that all IEC programs and services are in compliance with all contractual performance funding data
collection and reporting requirements.
Teaching all levels of undergraduate business and entrepreneurship courses (teaching load is up to 6 credit
hours per semester; may have release time to conduct research or other duties)
Maintaining professional scholarship
Advising students
Effectively managing the classroom environment
Developing maintaining and submitting accurate timely and complete records (attendance assignments
grades end of course notebooks etc.
Conducting research (suitable for an academic or professional audience)
Participating in course and curriculum development mentoring parttime faculty and students as well as
providing service to the School and the University
Serving the School the University and the profession and community as appropriate
Other duties as assigned. Note: This job description is not intended to provide all duties that may be required
of the position as other duties may be required of this position.

Education and/or Experience:

A Masters degree in Business Community Development Entrepreneurship or related field and five or more
years of relevant experience as a small business owner or community development professional.
Knowledge of HBCUs operating environments and cultures.
Previous program/project development/management experience. Skill at assessing and prioritizing multiple
tasks projects and demands as well as program budgeting and fiscal management.
Previous leadership/managerial experience experience recruiting setting expectations coaching and
developing others. Ability to work with diverse staff.
Experience with development of entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Strong customer focus responsive meets commitments and manages difficult situations.
Significant professional/entrepreneurial experience preferred.
Teaching experience preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity.
Experience with publishing and/or presenting research preferred.

Certificates Licenses or Registrations:

Must possess the minimum credential standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on
Colleges (SACSCOC) which normally includes at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area or
suitable approved justifications.

presentation skills. Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Excellence in the organization
decisionmaking problemsolving and creating a collaborative environment. Ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously. Must be able to read write and speak fluently in English.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally) bending and carrying. Specific
vision abilities include the ability to use close vision. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear and to use
hands and fingers to handle or feel.
