Postdoctoral Associate
The University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learnings mission is to improve the quality of teaching learning and childcare. We research develop and scale equitable educational innovations for adults and children that put all learners on trajectories for lifelong success. Specifically the Center targets kindergarten readiness 3rd grade reading proficiency and algebra proficiency as critical milestones in childrens educational trajectory that are predictive of success in school and life. The Center works at the nexus of research practice and policy to develop sustainable systems that leverage educational technologies and improve the implementation of researchbased practices. As a Center entirely funded through contracts and grants the Lastinger Center is dependent upon its ability to deliver and communicate the impacts of highly effective professional learning programs. We are looking for a qualified Postdoctoral Researcher with experience in the areas of mathematics education and qualitative research methodologies.
- Supports PI sponsored research project(s).
- Develops and analyzes research activities and makes changes in methods and procedures as necessary.
- Abstracts collects and/or synthesizes data from research and evaluation participants and enters information into the designated forms/database to comply with study protocols.
- Participates in internal/external research related conferences and investigator meetings to build and maintain relationships.
- Assists in the recruitment and relationship building of participants arranges study visits or activities and provides instructions to meet the goals of the study or evaluation.
- May coordinate multiproject studies.
- Supports development of reports and dissemination of findings related to the Centers work in mathematics.
- Conducts literature reviews to inform research and development of the mathematics product line.
- Provides feedback on content and products and their implementation from a data or research standpoint as needed.
- Collaborates with research staff students OPS or other research teams and/or other coordinators.
- Collaborates with Math Team associates and other Lastinger Center associates as needed such as content developers/writers program managers product managers learning experiences team members designers data scientists and analysts.
- Works with external partners on research activities.
$65000 $75000 commensurate with education and experience
- Earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or related field at the time of appointment.
- Experience with qualitative research methods.
- Comfort with new and emerging technologies.
- Experience with online or inperson teaching mathematics and/or education.
- K12 classroom teaching experience in the United States.
- Experience conducting classroom observations.
- A strong commitment for and deep knowledge of researchbased and standardsbasedstrategies for K12 Mathematics curriculum development instruction and assessment.
- Commitment to the creation of original studentcentered content for the benefit of educators and students.
- Experience publishing in peerreviewed research journals in mathematics education.
- Experience with quantitative research methods.
- Centers educators and students needs.
- Openness to learning and feedback.
- Comfort and an ability to adapt to ambiguous situations including those on short notice
- Collaborates productively.
