The Data Coordinating Centers IT group has an immediate need for a Sr. Systems Administrator. This position will report directly to the IT Director. The Sr. Sys Admin is essential in upholding and enhancing the technical framework of our research data center which operates continuously to support critical research activities. The role demands a professional with extensive experience in onpremises data center management and a strong acumen in security protocols. The successful candidate will be proficient in managing Windows and Linux server environments and will value the autonomy of their role while appreciating the dynamics of working within a supportive and collaborative IT team. Responsibilities of this role are comprehensive encompassing the design installation and ongoing management of servers and network devices to ensure reliable internal and customerfacing services. This role will be actively involved in all phases of the IT lifecycle from the initial development and testing stages to the fullscale production environment. This includes meticulous management of system documentation asset inventories and the creation of technical guidelines and documentation. The Sr. Sys Admin will work with software developers to deploy new applications and updates ensuring that development efforts are seamlessly integrated into the operational environment. This collaboration is vital for facilitating a dynamic agile IT infrastructure that can adapt to the evolving needs of clinical research thereby directly contributing to the DCCs objective of accelerating the translation of clinical research findings to practical applications. This position may require working off hours and participating in an oncall rotation to address critical system issues and ensure continuous 24/7 operational efficiency. Responsibilities
As a Sr. Sys Admin your responsibilities will include: Perform maintenance updates and upgrades for servers and desktops ensuring optimal system performance and reliability. Provide support and routine maintenance for specialized applications addressing specific operational needs. Manage Active Directory including group policy and preference settings to ensure secure and efficient user access control. Administer database and web services offering enduser support to facilitate smooth operations and accessibility. Diagnose and resolve issues related to servers software computers networks printers and Active Directory connectivity to maintain system integrity. Implement security tools and strategies planning and executing rollouts to strengthen system defenses. Monitor system performance and health proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to prevent disruptions. Execute additional responsibilities as needed adapting to evolving departmental IT requirements and projects. Installs new software releases and system upgrades evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Familiar with standard concepts practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Minimum Qualifications
Require a bachelors degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) and 35 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
