This is a FullTime Police position with a starting annual salary of $62380.47. The salary offer will be in alignment with the Colleges compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) if applicable.

Job Summary:
Prevent detect and investigate disturbances; maintain order; patrol assigned areas; enforce traffic regulations. Comply with and adhere to all applicable state federal and local laws.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from twoyear college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Two years prior police experience.
- Must be a Certified Police Officer through Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) and maintain such certification throughout the term of their employment.
- Be 21 years of age or older and a U.S. citizen.
- Possess a valid Illinois drivers license.
- Must be able to walk eight hours per day and assist in evacuating nonambulatory persons in an emergency.
- Ability to analyze situations and to adopt quick effective and reasonable courses of action.
- Ability to use good discretion and deal courteously but firmly with general public.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Availability and ability to work varying shift assignments.
- Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to extreme weather intense physical activity combat with armed and or/dangerous persons individuals with contagious diseases and safety hazards associated with emergency driving and traffic control.
- Must possess a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card
Desired Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Essential Duties:
- Proactively patrol a designated area during an assigned shift to preserve order and enforce traffic regulations.
- Investigate disturbances to determine appropriate action.
- Investigate calls of a nonthreatening nature (e.g. injured or ill subjects and civil disagreements) to determine appropriate action.
- Investigate vehicle accidents and determine appropriate action.
- Patrol traffic and parking areas to enforce regulations.
- Respond to all emergencies during assigned duty shift. Administer first aid/perform CPR/ apply AED as necessary.
- Operate communication equipment; transmit all citizen complaint calls to appropriate police officer or other departments as appropriate for action and/or followup.
- Prepare written reports of incidents occurring on assigned shift.
Other Duties:
- Maintain certification by the Illinois Local Governmental Law Enforcement Officers Training & Standards Board.
- Maintain annual firearms certification as required by Illinois Public Act 94103.
- Maintain LEADS and AED/CPR certification.
- Participate in a minimum of 32 hours of inservice training per year.
- Perform such other duties as may be required by State law or Department rule or as may be assigned by a superior officer.
- Perform other duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
