Senior Operations Associate Trucking
The opportunity:
Brokerage Operations is critical to Flexports trucking success. The Brokerage Ops team works alongside the Convoy technology which was recently acquired by Flexport. The team and platform are the bridge between the old way of connecting shippers to carriers (buy low sell high through person to person interaction) and the new way (instantly matching the right truck for each shipment through technology). Brokerage Ops oversees the carrier acquisition process and is the face of Flexport to FTL carriers. We have the ability to sell freight quickly and negotiate effectively simultaneously introducing the technology that will help trucking companies streamline & scale their business.
The team comprises people from diverse backgrounds and ways of thinking. Weve had great people join us from logistics backgrounds tech sales military operations and plenty of others. We hire people who fit the attributes and values that we hold in high regard such as outcome ownership hustle humility and great communication.
You will:
- Manage carrier acquisition and allocation for a geographical marketplace of shipments
- Prioritize price and market shipments on a tight schedule
- Work directly with trucking companies to match shipments at the best rate to the market being accountable for truck cost and on time performance
- Understand market trends dynamics and rates to effectively negotiate price with carriers
- Source develop and manage expectations for Carriers providing industry best customer service
- Identify trends in data and analyze the cause in order to improve core metrics
- Occasionally work outside your own marketplace depending on team priorities
- Provide support and guidance to internal operations and sales team members
- Work holidays and weekends as needed
You should have:
- Bachelors degree (or 4 years of relevant experience)
- 05 years of operations or client facing experience; preferably in transportation
- Great written verbal and crossfunctional communication skills
- Ability to self motivate think creatively problem solve and manage multiple tasks and deliver results in a collaborative startup environment with changing requirements and priorities.
- Ability to make informed decisions using data
- Experience in Excel SQL or startup/tech is a plus

The US base salary range for this position (exclusive of bonus equity and benefits):
$59000 $74000 USD
