The Role
At General Motors Global Public Policy (GPP) is a world class team that drives growth opportunities through public policy advocacy. Together we:
Advance GMs leadership and relationships with policy stakeholders
Provide political and policy advice and counsel that supports GMs operations and goals
Influence policy and engage with governments to drive growth opportunities.
The Analyst Policy Research & Intelligence is a key member of GPPs Global Strategic Initiatives (GSI) team. GSI is responsible for 1 generating actionable insights into the global policy landscape including risks and opportunities; 2 integrating and aligning policy considerations within GMs larger business initiatives and 3 influencing key policy trends and outcomes to enable GMs overall business strategy. We work handinglove with colleagues and internal clients across GPP and GMs broader business to achieve these outcomes.
The Analyst will be primarily responsible for generating actionable policy insights for GM leaders.
The Analyst will transform this raw information through synthesis and analysis into insights that are unique timely relevant accurate and actionable.
The Analyst will communicate these insights to GM decisionmakers via highquality written products visuals and briefings and adjust based on their feedback.
The Analyst will establish prioritize and maintain a set of key information requirements (KIRs) related to policy trends risks and opportunities that impact GM.
The Analyst will build and implement an iterative process to collect raw information from a wide variety of information sources that addresses the KIRs.
The role requires a candidate who is proactive strategic and resultsdriven; produces impactful insights; possesses strong analytical and communications skills; and thrives in a collaborative fastpaced environment.
What Youll Do
Quantitative and Qualitative Research:
Complement and augment the portfolio of external informational sources by conducting bespoke quantitative and qualitative research on relevant policy and industry trends.
Stakeholder Mapping:
Identify and evaluate external stakeholder resources that could inform impact or enable GMs advocacy and strategy goals.
Work closely with GSI/GPP colleagues to engage these resources in support of GM objectives.
Content Creation:
Develop digestible narratives for research and intelligence findings.
Prepare clear and concise intelligence products suitable for senior executive consumption.
Use data visualization skills to convey complex concepts effectively to decisionmakers.
Manage and Refine Cycle for Research and Intelligence Production and Analysis
Work with GPP and GMs business to establish prioritize and maintain a set of key information requirements (KIRs) related to policy trends risks and opportunities that impact GM.
Establish and leverage a portfolio of informational sources that addresses these requirements.
Assess and synthesize raw information from these sources on an iterative ongoing basis.
Analyze raw information to produce deeper insights.
Communicate insights to GM decisionmakers and adjust based on their feedback.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelors Degree with 7 years of professional experience in public policy political science international relations government public affairs intelligence analysis or a related field
Relevant professional experience across the private public nongovernmental and think tank sectors with demonstrated business acumen to inform strategy and generate meaningful business outcomes.
Proven communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to write for all levels and functions using technical and nontechnical language and experience briefing executives with clear concise presentations.
Proven analytical skills with the ability to translate qualitative and quantitative findings into actionable insights supported by demonstrated experience in research and analysis.
Excellent project management skills; demonstrated success in setting priorities meeting deadlines and managing projects in a highperformance environment.
Proven history of successful crossfunctional collaboration in fastpaced work environments

Experience working with policy issues relevant to manufacturing and/or the automotive sector. (e.g. economic competitiveness trade policies environmental issues digital and autonomy issues manufacturing and supply chains labor)
Solutionsoriented approach that is proactive and innovative; demonstrates boldness curiosity and creativity while remaining laserfocused on relevance and results.
High level of enthusiasm persistence initiative and experienced judgment to identify priorities initiate projects and complete activities with a strong sense of urgency.
Ability to work successfully in a bipartisan/nonpartisan environment.
Masters Degree in a relevant field
