Job Description

College of Humanities and Social Sciences
Graduate Assistant Pool

POSITION

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Graduate Assistant Pool.

This position provides an opportunity to assist the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Office of the Dean with data analysis and research. Applicants should have a strong background in one of the disciplines in the humanities or social sciences as well as have an interest in student success research methodology data analysis and use of applied data.

The Graduate Assistant will support tasks such as:

  • Survey construction distribution and analysis
  • Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Database maintenance
  • Submission and tracking of Institutional Review Board (IRB) proposals
  • Research report creation and oral and written presentation of findings
  • Data project management and tracking
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a pool of Graduate Assistants for the college to draw on as necessary.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current acceptance or enrollment in a graduate program at California State University Fullerton
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Available weekdays during hours of operation 8am5pm)
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research skills including the ability to work with both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite especially Microsoft Excel
  • SPSS experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision use independent judgment and apply critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with students faculty staff and university leadership

COMPENSATION

All Graduate Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers. Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $2943 to $5508 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications not to exceed $3800

The fulltime monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time based assigned.
