Job Title/HighLevel Position Summary:
This Biomechanical Research Engineer position is responsible for the organization development verification and documentation of research and biomechanical testing in support of Enovis Foot & Ankles portfolio of orthopedic implants and instruments. The Biomechanical Research Engineer should be able to conceptualize and execute experimental designs design and validation of test models and data measurement methods; experimental and computational evaluation of the performance of implants instruments materials and tissues; troubleshoot equipment technical issues and/or inconsistencies within test setups; and multitask on concurrent projects with associated deliverable deadlines. The Biomechanical Research Engineer is expected to work independently with little supervision and collaborate with project requestors and project leads. The Research and Testing department acts as a service role to internal clients in product development and marketing and to external clients in the orthopaedic field.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute inhouse biomechanical (materials implant tissues and/or instrument) testing in support of design evaluations regulatory submissions marketing collateral research proposals etc.
Design test setups and develop protocols to collect performance data on implants instruments materials and tissues.
Conceptualize and model fixturing for various test setups.
Compile interpret and present data to project teams.
Create technical reports for both lab notebook studies and DHF project documentation following GLP/GDP practices.
Prioritize and schedule all ongoing testing activities.
Proactively communicate effectively when priorities change activities are delayed materials are or when additional information is needed
Provide technical support and training to other team members and students supporting testing.
Operate in compliance with applicable FDA regulations.
Perform voice of customer activities with clients to understand research and testing priorities and needs.

Minimum Basic Qualifications:
Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering Material Science or Biomedical Engineering
2 years of industry experience with Mechanical Biomechanical and/or Material Testing
Experience in FDA regulated environment preferably orthopedic implants and instruments desired
3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office programs.
2 years of experience with mechanical load frames (Instron MTS)
Ability to use laboratory equipment such as load cells torque gauges 3D Printers etc.
Ability to conduct data and statistical analysis using a variety of software
Understanding of applicable FDA ISO and/or ASTM testing standards.
Ability to apply Good Lab Practices/Good Documentation Practices to test reporting.
Understanding of Quality management systems
Ability to read analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
Ability to communicate effectively before large groups of employees.
Ability to communicate progress with supervisor and team members.
Ability to write for technical conferences and scientific journals.
Travel Requirements:
Some travel will be both nationally and internationally to attend meetings and to participate in conferences

Experience with tissue dissection and foot and ankle anatomy

Customer/client service experience in testing services
Project management experience
