Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Optimisation / Operations Research Engineer with a passion for solving complex high-impact operational problems.
As part of HIVEDs Routing Squad youll work on some of the most intellectually demanding challenges in computer science - building cutting-edge optimisation and forecasting systems that drive supply-demand matching and efficient route planning at scale. Your work will directly enhance our core delivery engine and help create a competitive edge through technology.
Youll collaborate within a cross-functional team of engineers data analysts and data scientists to build production-grade optimisation systems that are robust scalable and deeply integrated into HIVEDs operations. This is an opportunity to combine theoretical rigour with real-world application and see the tangible impact of your work every day.
What youll be doing
- Design and implement optimisation models and algorithms for routing supply-demand matching and other core logistics challenges.
- Work closely with engineers data scientists and analysts to integrate optimisation logic into production systems.
- Lead the exploration and evaluation of new approaches - from linear programming and heuristics to machine learning-based optimisation.
- Partner with product and operational stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Contribute to forecasting and planning systems that power strategic and tactical decisions across the business.
- Continuously improve the performance scalability and robustness of our optimisation stack.
What were looking for
- A Bachelors or Masters degree in Operations Research Applied Mathematics Computer Science Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of optimisation methods (e.g. linear/integer programming constraint programming heuristics).
- Proven ability to translate complex models into production-grade solutions with measurable business impact.
- Experience working with or integrating optimisation solvers (e.g. Gurobi CPLEX OR-Tools) into software systems.
- Solid coding skills (Python preferred though experience in other languages like C Java or Go is also valued).
- Curiosity creativity and a strong sense of ownership - you enjoy solving open-ended problems and shipping solutions that matter.
