The Traffic Studies Analyst position works within the Southern Traffic Engineering Region reporting to the Assistant Regional Traffic Engineer. This position is responsible for performing traffic studies traffic control plan review work order development data collection and analysis and other duties as assigned. This position corresponds with internal and external customers. This position helps ensure that proper traffic engineering standards and guidelines are applied to enhance traffic safety and operations for the motoring public.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Collect and analyze data related to traffic engineering studies. Produce written reports (i.e. Road Safety Audits) including recommendations for roadway modifications signing striping traffic signals crosswalkscrash analysis roadway lighting and roadway inspections. Produce signing and striping work orders for field personnel. Review construction plansduring design and review process.
Review and inspection of traffic control plans signing/striping layouts signing plans and engineering plans. Produce detailed engineering computer 20
drawings for traffic engineering reports and roadway improvements.Perform electronic filing and other organizational tasks. Answer and address citizen requests as needed. Perform special assignments as needed. Representing traffic engineering at meetings with other ADOT units other state agencies outside agencies contractors and consultants.

The KSAs would normally be acquired through formal training. Completion of a 2 year Community College/Vocational School Program is preferred for the job with an emphasis on preengineering course work and/or four years of experience in traffic safety studies; OR two years of experience equivalent to the Engineering Plans Technician or Permits Technician 3 or Highway Operations Technician 3.
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C. R210207.11.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
