Southpointe is seeking an energetic outgoing and collaborative teacher who shares a commitment to inquiry and conceptbased teaching and learning. Reporting to the Junior School Principal or designate the Junior School PYP STEM Teacher position will commence on August 21 2025 and conclude on December 8 2025 for theschool year. There may be an additional opportunity to work as a regular TeacherOnCall for the remainder of the school year.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop and implement engaging handson STEM activities aligned with the IB PYP framework and transdisciplinary themes;
- Encourage curiosity creativity and problemsolving through realworld STEM challenges and experiments;
- Integrate technology and digital tools in lessons utilize coding robotics VR/AR resources and makerspace materials to enhance student learning;
- Facilitate design thinking and engineering projects by emphasizing prototyping iteration and reflection;
- Incorporate library resources into lessons and support students in developing research skills through guided library lessons;
- Adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of all learners from Kindergarten to Grade 5 incorporating various instructional strategies and scaffolding techniques;
- Promote inquiry and student agency encourage studentled investigations questioning and critical thinking in STEM learning experiences;
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate STEM concepts into PYP units of inquiry;
- Implement ongoing formative assessments to track student progress provide timely feedback and use digital tools to document learning;
- Analyze student data to inform instruction and prepare clear meaningful report card comments that include strengths focus areas and next steps for learning;
- Maintain a safe organized and engaging learning environment by ensuring student safety appropriate use of materials and an inclusive space for exploration and discovery;
- Manage and track STEM resources efficiently using digital inventory software tools;
- Organize and lead an afterschool STEM club to extend learning beyond the classroom;
- Connect with local experts STEM professionals and organizations for guest talks field trips and collaborative projects where possible;
- Encourage student collaboration and teamwork by designing group challenges and cooperative problemsolving activities to build students collaboration skills;
- Use Toddle and Google Sites to document and highlight student learning demonstrating growth and sharing achievements with parents and the school community
- Foster caring committed and supportive relationships with students and families;
- Create a classroom environment that promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect and care;
- Model a strong work ethic high standard of commitment and maintain excellent professionalism in all interactions with colleagues students and parents;
- Participate in community building events both in and out of school hours;
- May include additional teaching responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent;
- BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate;
- Preference may be given to teachers with 12 years of experience;
- Valid FirstAid certificate
Salary
- Southpointes teacher salary grid will be 6 above the Delta public school salary grid at all levels of the grid;
- The annual salary for a fulltime teaching position at Southpointe Academy during theschool year ranges from $68422 to $116091 based on placement on the approved teacher salary grid;
- Placement on the approved teacher salary grid is based on level of qualifications and duration of fulltime teaching experience.
