Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the wellbeing of 2SLGBTQIA youth aged 1629 through mental health services social programs and housing. We operate a Youth DropIn Centre offering barrierfree counselling hot meals and community programming and a Transitional Home providing emergency and longterm housing with lifeskills support.

About the Role
As a Clinical Counsellor you are responsible for:
- Individual & Group Counselling Create treatment plans deliver shortterm therapeutic counselling using evidencebased practices (e.g. MBCT DBT ACT MBSR TraumaInformed Care etc. and facilitate group therapy programs.
- Crisis Intervention & Safety Planning Conduct risk assessments provide sameday crisis counselling create safety plans and participate in the oncall crisis line rotation to support participants.
- Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams Partner with psychologists psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to provide comprehensive care tailored to participants needs.
- Program & Resource Coordination Connect participants to internal Friends of Ruby programs when appropriate and external service providers as needed.
- Team Engagement & Conflict Resolution Support overseeing the dropin space deescalate conflicts/situations and monitor the overall physical and emotional safety of the space.
- Clinical Documentation & Administration Complete intake assessments maintain clinical records and actively participate in team meetings and individual/group clinical supervision.
What You Bring
- Education & Certification Social Work Psychology Psychotherapy Counselling Psychology or in a related field and/or comparable work experience with current membership in good standinginthe College of Social Workers and Social Service Worker College of Registered Psychotherapists e.g. RSW RP etc. or other counselling college.
- Experience in 2SLGBTQIA Counselling 35 years supporting to 2SLGBTQIA and BIPOC youth in issues related to mental health trauma disorders of eating violence selfinjurious behavior transitioning and/or coming out substance use family support and relationships.
- TraumaInformed & AntiOppressive Practice Demonstrated commitment to social justice harm reduction antiracism antioppression strengthsbased traumainformed and participantcentered practices.
- Group Facilitation Skills Ability to provide both individual and group counselling utilizing Evidence Based Practices and/or modalities (e.g. MBCT CBT DBT ACT MBSR TraumaInformed Care etc..
- Experience supporting participants with DID(Dissociative Identity Disorder) is considered an asset.
- Intersectionality & Inclusivity Knowledge and ability to work from a lens of sensitivity to diversity related to race culture religion immigration cognitive functioning poverty sexual orientation and gender identity etc.
- Crisis Intervention & Risk Assessment Knowledge in suicide risk assessment crisis intervention skills and safety planning; and ability to manage conflict crises and escalating situations calmly and confidently.
