Job Description Summary:
Under the direction of Property & Evidence Sergeant: intake and maintain property and determine property and case dispositions; maintain photo documentation of crime scenes evidence and property received by the department.Job Description:
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive maintain catalog store and dispose of property and evidence as required by law. Prepare evidence for presentation in court and appear when necessary.
Responsible for the timely processing of evidence following required contemporary standards.
Prepare and present training on various aspects of and evidence processes.
Maintain and prepare electronic evidence using a variety of software applications.
Respond on occasion to crime scenes to collect catalog and log evidence.
General filing typing and recordkeeping computer data entry and preparation of written reports as necessary.
Providing case disposition research via CCIC/NCIC and other data sources.
Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the City.
Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self others materials and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to City property.
Responsible for knowing and complying with all City and department policies; participating in professional trainings and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to lift objects on a daily basis.
Ability to maintain balance and to work from ladders and heights.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to perform work requiring accuracy and which carries high liability.
Ability to stand kneel and bend frequently and to work in unpleasant conditions and perform physical tasks in awkward or confining workspace.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of basic computer skills with ability to learn different systems quickly.
Skills in courteous and effective communication.
Must be over 21 years of age.
Valid Colorado Drivers License and ability to maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Must be willing to submit to security check and pass truth verification interview background and drug screen prior to hire.
Have and maintain acceptable background information including criminal conviction history.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Property and Evidence Technician experience.
Advanced computer skills. Experience downloading copying and archiving digital media.
Experience with Tiburon Records Management System Property Room module or other property and evidence software.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Demonstrated personal and professional honesty integrity good judgment as shown in applicants criminal history background and motor vehicle record and use of and alcohol. Preference will be given to applicants who have no history of use sale or possession of illegal substances. Polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analyzer used for verification of applicant information. Prior to employment successful applicants are required to submit to a drug test. Some positions will also require medical and/or psychological testing prior to employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Physical and Mental Effort
Active physical work which requires occasional lifting up to 160lbs with help frequent lifting up to 50lbs and constant lifting up to 20lbs. Must be able to constantly walk or stand for up to 24 hours at a time up to a total of 68 hrs/day. Must do occasional sitting up to 24 hours/day. Must be able to drive a car. Requires frequent to repetitive use of the hands for simple grasping and fine manipulation; occasional repetitive use of the feet to operate foot controls. Requires frequent pushing/pulling of carts loaded weighing up to 200 pounds. Must constantly squat bend reach and lift overhead; frequently climb 610 footladders; and occasionally must kneel and crawl.
Exposure to environmental hazards: bodily fluids biohazardous materials chemicals dust lice/molds and weather. Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines public contact and changing priorities and conditions.

Frequently used standard office equipment including city vehicle personal computers copy/fax machines telephone calculator Identix fingerprint machine and highdensity mobile storage shelving.
