The School of Communication Studies consists of four programs: Public Relations Broadcast Media Studies Journalism and Information Design. The Bissett School of Business has seven majors: Accounting Finance Supply Chain Management Marketing Human Resources International Business and General Management. The Aviation program has both an Aviation Diploma and Bachelor or Aviation Management. About the Role
The Office Manager is a vital member of the Faculty of Business Communication Studies and Aviation team responsible for overseeing daily office operations and ensuring a productive and collaborative work environment. This dynamic role involves supervising administrative staff coordinating office activities and managing critical operational processes. With a focus on efficiency leadership and organizational excellence the Office Manager supports key decisionmaking by preparing detailed reports managing budgets and implementing best practices across the Faculty.
This fulltime position also includes overseeing event coordination and vendor permits contributing to a vibrant and wellorganized faculty culture.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daytoday administrative functions ensuring adherence to university policies and resolution of operational issues.
- Lead and manage projects related to effective Faculty operations.
- Manage budgets as assigned.
- Develop and implement best practices for the Faculty.
- Coordinate the flow of information across academic units to ensure smooth operations.
- Serve as a liaison between the Faculty Deans Office and other university departments including but not limited to: Facilities Access & Inclusion and Scheduling.
- Coordinate staff responsible for faculty onboarding scheduling and other associated processes and functions.
- Support staff in the planning and of faculty events ensuring all logistical details are addressed.
- Prepare reports on admissions student numbers and other key metrics to support Faculty decisionmaking.
- Analyze data and generate insights for quality assurance accreditation and impact assessment.
- Supervise and manage Administrative Assistants including hiring training and performance evaluations.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment providing professional development opportunities for staff.
- Chair administrative staff committees and participate in the Deans Advisory Group.
- Ensure compliance with Mount Royal University Collective Agreements Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation and MRU safety systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration Office Management or a related field or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of three to six years in office management or administrative roles is required with experience in a higher education environment preferred.
- Experience in staff supervision conflict resolution project management and budget oversight.
- Proven data analysis and report generation skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Google Suite and Banner or similar student information systems.

Salary: $83888.00 $115765 per annum
