Job Description

Fahrenheit Advisors is seeking an experienced Interim HR Director to provide fulltime support for our client in burg VA. This engagement will be approximately 30 40 hours per week with 3 4 days onsite for the next 3 4 months. This role is critical in stabilizing HR operations following the departure of the Head of HR. The university has undergone recent leadership changes and multiple reductions in force (RIFs) creating a need for a strong HR leader who can manage daily operations while supporting an understaffed team.

With a focus on interim fractional projectbased consulting and direct hire services we help organizations overcome their most challenging hurdles to success. Fahrenheit Advisors leverages the expertise of our team to implement practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support benefits and payroll administration ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide handson leadership to a team of clerklevel HR staff offering guidance and structure.
  • Manage HR operations including system oversight employee relations and compliance.
  • Work closely with an existing consultant (providing 10 hours/week of support) to transition responsibilities and ensure continuity.
  • Collaborate with university leadership to maintain stability and support ongoing HR initiatives.
  • Assist in the hiring process as needed for a permanent HR leader while ensuring smooth daytoday operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive HR leadership experience preferably in higher education or similarly structured organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems (Paylocity experience preferred) and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop teams in an understaffed environment.
  • Experience navigating organizational change RIFs and leadership transitions.
  • Ability to be onsite most of the time to provide handson support.
