Employment Opportunity Job Title: Bilingual Teacher Fellow JobType: Fulltime Contract Days: 187190 days Reports to: Campus Principal Website: www.waysideschools Salary: $37080.00 ABOUT WAYSIDE SCHOOLS:Wayside Schools is an openenrollment tuitionfree PreK312thgrade public charter school network that provides over 2200 scholars across its four South Austin campuses with a rigorous International Baccalaureate education.Since 2012 Wayside Schools has striven to empower historically underserved scholars providing them with the instructional experiences academics skills intellectual habits and social and emotional competencies needed to become graduates from fouryear colleges and universities providing them with the access and opportunities they need to narrate their own futures and positively impact and empower the families and communities to which they belong Job Goal:Teacher Fellows are given the opportunity to develop their skills in planning and delivering instruction while being supported by the instructional expertise of the MultiClassroom Leader (MCL).This position is an entrylevel instructional position.Under the leadership of the MCL the Teacher Fellow will provide a second tier of support to scholars.Teacher Fellows coplan instruction deliver smallgroup instruction and manage the classroom environment alongside and in the absence of the MCL.Teacher Fellows also prepare instructional materials as needed.Coaching is provided to the Teacher Fellow through campus leadership instructional coaches the MCL and professional development.The coaching and experience gained through serving as a Teacher Fellow can lay a foundation for success as a classroom teacher. Candidates are responsible for planning organizing and presenting activities contributing to the educational social and physical development of students to enhance their selfworth and equip them with the basic knowledge skills and abilities needed to function in society.Considerable judgment tact patience sensitivity and flexibility are required to deal with students from varied socioeconomic backgrounds and learning styles.This position requires creativity and adaptive thinking to meet the social and academic needs of scholars. Qualifications: Paraprofessional Certificate from appropriate agency (required) Associates Degree (preferred) Working towards a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college (preferred - Bilingual (Spanish required)

Performance Responsibilities: - Prepares instructional materials for multiple classrooms under the direction of the MultiClassroom Leader
- Provides instructional support to scholars while the MultiClassroom Leader provides Tier 1 instruction
- Delivers Tier 2 instruction under the supervision of the MultiClassroom Leader
- Provides scholar academic performance data to MCL
- Independently manages the learning environment both inside and outside the classroom (e.g. during class in hallways between classes and during assemblies extracurricular activity meetings or events fire drills or other group activities.
Provide instruction to a class individual students or groups of students using such methods as oral presentation demonstration discussions answering questions offering laboratory directions project and problembased learning and research. Facilitate learning in the classroom (e.g. maintain discipline; encourage participation; consult with parents school staff and other care providers to identify and address social or developmental needs. Evaluate student performance. Maintain records and document student progress (e.g. record grades and absences provide progress reports. Maintain contact with parents in regard to student performance through activities such as parentteacher conferences progress reports letters and special meetings. Maintain professional development through such activities as classes conferences seminars workshops and professional journals; provide technical guidance to less experienced teachers. Perform various administrative activities (e.g. attend faculty and staff meetings order equipment and supplies copy materials create bulletin boards take attendance obtain permission slips and coordinate department activities. Maintain confidentiality. Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible. Articulate the districts mission and goals to the community and solicit its support in realizing the schools mission. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor. Performing other duties as assigned or required by the program. Physical Effort and Work Environment: Services are generally provided within a standard classroom environment. Some movement throughout the classroom is generally necessary to facilitate learning (e.g. standing walking stooping bending sitting and/or kneeling). Special Education staff may also be required to pick up students restrain students as needed and spend large quantities of time on the floor sitting squatting and/or kneeling. Light lifting of materials and other objects associated with a classroom environment is required (e.g. books teaching aids up to approximately 20 40 lbs.. Lifting of students to help with dressing or toileting as needed. Physically able to supervise scholars during field trips. Candidate should be willing to contribute directly or indirectly to the development of children both inside and outside the classroom which may include working hours in addition to the regular school day. This position may involve rare exposure to blood or body fluids. Regular attendance is required for this position.
