Job Description
The Metrics Intake team is responsible for building and maintaining a suite of lowlatency high availability services in Datadogs metrics intake pipeline. These services transform and enrich petabytes of data per day in data centers around the world. As Engineering Manager you will lead a highly motivated growing team of engineers in developing the next generation of these services.

What Youll Do:
- Lead and mentor a team of 7 software engineers.
- Drive improvements in the resilience availability and efficiency of the teams services.
- Work with engineering and product leaders to define wellprioritized OKRs and roadmaps to maximize the teams impact.
- Manage large crossteam projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Share oncall responsibilities with the rest of the team and ensure a culture of operational excellence.
Who You Are:
- You have 2 years of experience as a people manager or technical leader with strong mentorship skills. An ideal candidate will have experience in career development performance management tracking and optimizing team efficiency OKRs and hiring.
- Youve built and operated distributed systems in production (ideally with high traffic i.e. millions of data points per second).
- You have a strong understanding of distributed systems architecture including concepts such as scalability fault tolerance consistency and concurrency control.
- You are experienced with being oncall leading incident responses writing post mortems and driving remediation efforts.
- Youre comfortable managing and working with geographically distributed teams.
- You have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent professional experience
