Your work environment at EXP

The Director Pavement & Testing is responsible for overseeing the development implementation and management of material testing and pavement engineering programs. This role involves leading a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the quality and performance of materials and construction practices. The Director will also be responsible for developing innovative testing methodologies managing research projects and collaborating with industry stakeholders to advance pavement technology.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Lead and manage the overall material testing and pavement engineering department including hiring training and supervising staff.
• Develop and implement comprehensive pavement testing strategies and methodologies.
• Oversee the of pavement testing projects ensuring they meet quality standards and project timelines.
• Collaborate with other departments industry partners and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Conduct research and development to innovate and improve pavement testing techniques and materials.
• Prepare and present technical reports research findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
• Manage the departments budget resources and equipment to ensure efficient operations.
• Stay updated on industry trends advancements and regulatory changes related to pavement testing and materials.
• Represent the organization at industry conferences meetings and other events.
• Perform field acceptance tests including Bridge Deck Steel Cover inspection using a Covermeter or Pachometer in accordance with ACI 228 and ASTM 4748 concrete deck thickness as per GDT131 and concrete pavement thickness as per Standard Specification 430.3.06H and GDT131.
• Conduct onsite sampling and testing of concrete and temperature measurement of asphalt in accordance with the CQAP and the Agreement.
• Perform soils inspection and testing to verify proper control of density and moisture content of embankments backfills and other earthwork items.
• Monitor and verify all pavements for thickness and surface tolerance.
• Perform QA compaction testing.

What your experience looks like

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Materials Science or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in pavement engineering materials testing or a related field.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Strong knowledge of pavement materials testing equipment and procedures.
• Excellent analytical problemsolving and project management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in pavement testing and analysis.
