The Plumber reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities and ensures the seamless operation of campus facilities by maintaining and repairing plumbing steam fitting and piping systems. This position focuses on preserving the integrity and safety of heating water and drainage systems contributing to a reliable and efficient environment for students faculty and staff. With a strong emphasis on quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety standards the Plumber supports the overall functionality and sustainability of campus infrastructure.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Diagnose and resolve plumbing electrical and safety issues in campus buildings.
- Read and interpret blueprints for repairs and installations in academic residential and administrative facilities.
- Perform routine maintenance including clearing drains replacing fixtures and repairing leaks.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure longterm system reliability.
- Transport and manage tools and equipment while safeguarding college property.
- Complete work orders and collaborate on campus improvement projects.
- Maintain accurate records logs and documentation for inspections and repairs.
- Test repair and maintain equipment such as pumps refrigeration units and drainage systems.
- Install inspect and repair plumbing fixtures and piping for heating water and drainage systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations building codes and institutional policies.
- Adhere to college policies and procedures contributing to the overall maintenance of campus infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to perform the job effectively.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience and completion of a staterecognized apprentice training program in plumbing required
- Journeylevel trade knowledge preferred
- A valid drivers license is required
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES This may be representative but not allinclusive of the knowledge skills and abilities commonly associated with the job.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards building codes and preventive maintenance practice
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical documents
- Knowledge of the potential occupational hazards connected with plumbing work and the associated safety standards and practices that should be applied
- Ability to investigate routine and emergency problems with plumbing evaluate alternative solutions and provide sound recommendations to supervisors
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings specifications submittals cut sheets layouts and other plumbing traderelated documentation
- Selfstarter with good problemsolving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact and collaborate with other trades personnel coworkers and supervisors

- Must have the physical stamina and endurance to stand or walk for up to 2 hours continuously and up to 8 hours per day. Must be capable of sitting for less than 2 hours within an 8hour shift.

- Must frequently lift or carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.

- Must be able to work at elevated heights while maintaining proper balance.
- Must demonstrate fullbody mobility and physical agility to perform essential job functions safely and effectively.
WORK ENVIRONMENT Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
