Licensed Professional Counselor

As a Counselor, youll provide non-medical counseling services to military service members and their families. Youll counsel in a supportive manner, you might address: living conditions; life skills; improving relationships at home and at work; stress management; adjustment issues, such as those related to returning from deployment; marital problems; parenting, fear, grief and loss.

Responsibilities:

• Provide face-to-face non-medical counseling to military service members and their families.
• Make appropriate referrals and hand offs to military and community resources according to the needs of military service members and their families.
• Develop and/or use approved training and education programs and materials.
• Advise on new or revised presentations by military leadership, when requested.
• Provide tracking of services performed and referrals made using the appropriate reporting system.
• Communicate information regarding trends and issues at assigned installation to supervisors.
• Participate in regular in-service training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
• May participate in surge and on-demand events.

Requirements

• Master’s or Doctorate Degree required
• Experience working with people with mental disorders.
• Registered with appropriate state organization as a registered psychotherapist, social worker, or counselororState equivalent within 60 days of hire
• At least insupervisory phase of licensure
