Job Description

Responsibilities of Mental Health Counselor

  • Provide mental health and behavioral health support services on campus.
  • On campus outreach to students in need of mental health support.
  • On campus promotion of mental health and overall well-being.
  • Identify at-risk students and, where necessary, seek further support.
  • Establish relationships with off-campus providers, where necessary.
  • Follow crisis-management procedures when necessary.
  • Planning and scheduling a calendar to meet regularly with students as necessary.
  • Providing assistance to students
  • Serving as a counselor for students working with difficult courses or life challenges that may interrupt degree completion.
  • Facilitate written documentation upon request.
  • Effectively communicate institutional standards.

Qualifications for Mental Health Counselor

  • Master’s degree in Psychology - Preferred
  • Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple caseloads
  • Strong English communication skills is an added advantage
  • The ability to work with a diverse group of students of different ages and ethnicity
  • Proven ability to work independently
