Job Description

With over a century of mining history Darlot is a cornerstone operation of Vault Minerals Limited producing highgrade gold production. With a strong legacy Darlot is focused on the future optimising production and driving exploration programs to extend the mines lifespan and uncover new resources. The Darlot mine is located about 900 km northeast of Perth and 121 km north of Leonora in the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.

Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist the Geology Technician the Core yard is responsible for processing diamond drill core to facilitate grade control and resource definition requirements.

This position will be offered on a 12month maximum term contract.

The position will be offered on an 14:14 roster FIFO from Perth.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Organise and maintain the core processing facility ensuring a safe work area in the coreyard. Maintain safe operation of equipment conduct prestarts and report hazards.
  • Assist with core handling and processing which includes orientation lines RQD magsus metre marking core cutting photography sampling and despatch of core.
  • Upload RQD and magsus data on to database server. Ensure core photographs are stored correctly on the network.
  • Monitor and report on issues with core quality and presentation from diamond drilling contractor.
  • Stocktake on drilling and coreyard consumables on a regular basis. Organise and maintain all consumables.
  • Raise purchase requests using SAP or similar and receipt invoices on behalf of Geology.

About You

  • Minimum of 12 months of experience in mining or exploration with exposure to diamond drill core processing.
  • Proficient using Microsoft office suite and mining database software such as acQuire.
  • Excellent communication organisational and time management skills.
  • WA Drivers License (manual C Class).
  • Hold current High Risk Forklift Licence (LF).
