Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a talented Senior Project Engineer to support Defense and Civil Space Systems in the Space Division and contribute across the WFOV Portfolio. As a core member of the team you will play a valuable part in supporting and executing IR payload capabilities for a variety of customers. You will be required to support multiple tasks in parallel productively contribute to and lead team environments and communicate effectively to management coworkers and customers. You must also be selfmotivated and highly organized with a focus on managing customer expectations with a constant goal of generating high quality products that exceed stakeholder expectations. In this role you will also serve as integrated product team lead (IPT) and the control account manager (CAM) oversight across multiple programs. The position will have responsibility for planning tracking and of complex tasking within technical schedule and budget constraints. The program involves diverse technology areas including large scale composites structures mechanical systems payload environment control and system integration. The position will also be customer facing and represent the program in the absence of the program manager.

- Primary Responsibilities
The Senior Project Engineer Optomechanical Lead will have a key impact on program across the WFOV portfolio and will:
- Evaluate and guide daily activities in support of the program manager(s)
- Lead IPT meetings as required and set expectations for the project team(s)
- Actively manage risk and identify opportunities at the IPT level including working with the IPT to develop mitigation strategies and plans to realize opportunities
- Identify capability or process gaps and provide recommendations for improvement
- Coordinate program activities across multiple functional activities
- Foster intraproject coordination and communication
- Aid program manager(s) in mitigating cost schedule and technical risks related to materials used on the program
- Plan and execute a hardware centric project
- Routinely evaluate program technical and programmatic metrics to ensure successful
- Create project plans and maintain project objectives
- Define tasks and required resources
- Assist with assembling and managing project team
- Work with program schedulers to maintain schedule
- Oversight of the technical scope under the assigned control accounts
- Support to earned value reporting to the customer
- Development management coordination and presentation of various informational products to support:
- Weekly Program Management Reviews (PMRs)
- Weekly senior management meetings
- Monthly internal and external programmatic reviews
- Customer IPT meetings
- Tracking and providing status of internal and external action items
- Performing supply chain vulnerability assessments on purchased parts and raw material needed for the program
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of twelve 12 years of direct engineering experience or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and ten 10 years of direct engineering experience
- Indepth understanding of optomechanical systems
- Leading a large and diverse team including suppliers and subcontractors
- Disciplined metricdriven program management
- Proven experience managing to and meeting tight schedules
- Cost estimating and Budget management
- Effective communication of information between various functional disciplines as well as strong briefing skills with senior customer and corporate
- Proficient using Microsoft Excel Word Project and PowerPoint
- Strong understanding of hardware development manufacturing procurement production and integration
- Proven leadership skills including working in a team environment fostering communication listening to teammate concerns and reconciling internal issues or differences
- Proven ability to solicit and process complex information and data to solve complex problems and make sound decisions
- Analytical and strong organizational skills with excellent verbal and written ability
- Experience with supply chain management and ability to work with suppliers to help them meet both hardware and nonhardware deliverable requirements
- Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or be willing to relocate
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting a multiyear development/production program valuing more than $100M
- Project management qualification (PMP) or equivalent
- Exposure or general knowledge of Earned Value Management
- Experience with utilizing digital engineering tools for program management such as Jira

Pay Range:
Pay Range $112450.00 $203275.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job education experience knowledge skills and abilities as well as internal equity alignment with market data applicable bargaining agreement (if any) or other law.
