Head of Technology - OFSTED Outstanding School - Hounslow

A large and successful comprehensive school in the vibrant Hounslow area seeks an inspiring and experienced Head of Technology for a fulltime permanent position commencing in September. • About the Role:
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Technology department encompassing both Design & Technology (including areas like product design resistant materials and potentially others) and Computer Science.
  • Lead the development and implementation of an engaging and coherent curriculum across all key stages in both subject areas ensuring progression and high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Line manage and support a team of teachers across both Design & Technology and Computer Science fostering a collaborative and highachieving departmental culture.
  • Oversee the planning delivery and assessment of all subjects within the Technology department ensuring excellent student outcomes and effective use of resources.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning and student progress across the department implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Manage the departmental budget effectively ensuring resources are allocated appropriately to support both Design & Technology workshops and Computer Science labs.
  • Contribute to the broader strategic planning of the school and work collaboratively with other Heads of Department and the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Stay abreast of developments in both Design & Technology and Computer Science education and implement relevant innovations within the department.
• Ideal Candidate:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in either Design & Technology or Computer Science and a good understanding of the other discipline.
  • Significant and successful experience teaching in at least one of the core areas of the Technology department (DT or CS) at the secondary level with demonstrable leadership experience and a track record of raising student achievement.
  • A strong understanding of the curriculum and effective pedagogical approaches in both Design & Technology and Computer Science.
  • Exceptional leadership communication interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and a diverse team of teachers.
  • Experience in curriculum development assessment departmental management and budget management.
  • A clear vision for the role of technology education in a comprehensive school setting and a commitment to ensuring all students have access to highquality learning experiences in these areas.
