You will join:

  • The Experimental Physics (EP) Department which carries out basic research in the field of experimental particle physics in a stimulating scientific atmosphere standing as an important reference for the European physics community. It also contributes to the education and training of young scientists.
  • The ATLAS Detector Operation group (ADO) group which has major responsibilities in the ATLAS detector operation maintenance and future upgrades.
  • The Project Office (PO) section is in charge of operating maintaining and upgrading the infrastructure and the detector of the ATLAS experiment.

Functions

As part of a team you will integrate services design and oversee the production of support structures and design installation tools. You will prepare assembly drawings for material procurement and oversee the management and organization of the ATLAS CAD models into the ATLAS Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) structure the definition and the control of detector system geometrical envelopes as well as reverse engineering.

In particular you will:

  • Integrate services into the ATLAS environment and infrastructure which will cover a wide variety of activities:
    • Define envelopes and routing paths.
    • Work closely with the cabling and piping project engineers to integrate services (cables & pipes) and define cable tray crosssections as well as their mechanical support and fixation.
    • Prepare a cabling study document that will be provided to the team in charge of the installation.
    • Prepare production drawings for specific cable supports as well as assembly and layout drawings with a detailed bill of materials.
    • Report regularly to the ATLAS Technical Coordination team.
    • Manage engineering documentation.

  • Steer system integration studies and manage CAD models within the ATLAS PLM structure:
    • Define the envelope of new systems and issue the associated drawings and reference documents.
    • Participate in design reviews and periodical meetings to control design progress concerning the envelope.
    • Ensure compliance with envelope specifications during the construction assembly and installation of new systems.
    • Organize CAD models within the official tree structure to maintain an uptodate CAD environment.
    • Allocate and manage space for future needs.
