The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations within our clients commercial construction company. You will act as a bridge between the field and office teams ensuring that both sides have the necessary data and resources to operate efficiently. Skills
- Strong understanding of job costing general ledger management budgeting and financial reporting
- Proficient in Excel with a capability to demonstrate during the interview process
- Excellent communication skills to interact with various levels of personnel
- Ability to prepare and present financial data to executives
- Spanish language skills are a plus
- CPA License and experience with ERP systems (e.g. Computer Guidance Corp eCMS) are preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Facilitate seamless communication between field teams and accounting
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and provide actionable insights
- Oversee key accounting functions including general ledger management and financial reporting
- Prepare and present financial data at monthly division reviews
- Collaborate with leadership to design and implement financial policies and procedures
- Supervise the job costing team and contribute to a collaborative team environment
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in finance accounting or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance/accounting within commercial construction
- Experience with multicompany structures including acquired and startup businesses
- Experience with job costing in the field at a granular level
