Job Description

Job Summary

The Maintenance Engineer repairs machinery or mechanical equipment at CMIs customer site in Herndon VA and/or Arlington VA.

Key Job Functions

  • Examines machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose sources of trouble dismantling or partly dismantling equipment and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools
  • Performs general maintenance on buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting carpentry plumbing masonry and electrical work.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC equipment replacing electrical receptacles wires switches fixtures and motors using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings repairing or replacing sinks water coolers and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors steps and sidewalks replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles hanging doors and installing door locks replacing broken window panes and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Repair or replace parts as needed to maintain buildings equipment and furnishings in all aspects of facility maintenance. This includes being able to work with various types of materials: woods plastics paints glass sheet metals PVC products greases oils etc.
  • Determine required materials and supplies relating to preventive maintenance repair orders and projects to complete each task.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on building equipment/furnishings in accordance with the manufacturers operation manuals.

Qualifications :

  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • At least 3 years of experience performing maintenance services within a federal facility
  • Must be proficient in the trades with experience working or equivalent training in general maintenance services
  • Must follow workplace policies and procedures
