Kwaan Bear Technology (KBT) is seeking a seasoned IT Subject Matter Expert (SME) with 10 years of experience to play a pivotal role in our software modernization project. The SME will leverage expertise in legacy and modern programming languages development methodologies and system integration to ensure the successful transformation of missioncritical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in COBOLALCJava and C coupled with experience in AgileWaterfall and other software development methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership and expert guidance on the analysis design and implementation of legacy and modernized systems.
Lead efforts to analyze and document legacy systems written in COBOL and ALC for modernization and migration initiatives.
Develop test and implement solutions using modern programming languages such as Java and C to complement and replace legacy components.
Collaborate with stakeholders including business analysts architects and development teams to define requirements identify risks and create robust solutions.
Contribute to the design and of migration strategies for legacy systems to modern platforms ensuring system integrity and performance.
Ensure alignment with project timelines development methodologies and organizational goals.
Participate in the evaluation and selection of tools frameworks and platforms to support modernization efforts.
Guide the team through AgileWaterfall and hybrid methodologies to ensure project success.
Conduct system integration testing performance tuning and quality assurance activities.
Provide mentorship to junior team members and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Required Skills & Experience:
10 years of experience in IT development and system integration roles.
Extensive expertise in COBOL and Assembler Language Code (ALC) in mainframe environments.
Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java and C.
Strong understanding of software development methodologies including AgileWaterfall and hybrid approaches.
Experience with system analysis legacy system refactoring and application migration.
Familiarity with tools and technologies such as IBM z/OSJCLVSAMDB2CICS and other mainframe utilities.
Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex technical challenges across legacy and modern systems.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in cloud migration strategies (e.g. AWS Mainframe Modernization Azure or GCP).
Knowledge of middleware tools and APIs for system integration.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Exposure to automated code analysis refactoring and modernization tools.
Background in team leadership and crossfunctional collaboration
