The Department

Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of three new pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne. This partnership is aligned with the Victorian Governments Pathology system reform. The Pathology programs are working in partnership to ensure we meet the future demand and continue to provide high quality pathology services for the patients and community across the health services.
In the Partnership pathology services are provided from two main laboratories (The Alfred in Prahran and Monash Medical Centre in Clayton) and six branch laboratories (Casey Hospital Dandenong Hospital Moorabbin Hospital Sandringham Hospital Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospital). In addition there are 20 collection centres and rooms spread across South East Melbourne and South Gippsland with the furthest one located in Yarram.

The Position Summary

The Transition Coordinator will be an Alfred Health appointment on behalf of the Alfred/Monash Shared Pathology Project. This position will report to the Implementation Lead and will work in close collaboration with the Transition Lead and the Alfred/Monash Shared Pathology Project team.The Transition Coordinator works under the direction of the Implementation Lead to support the Implementation Strategy to ensure the Shared LIS is delivered safely with no highrisk impact to clinical care and minimal disruption to the Pathology service. Working closely with the Transition Lead the Transition Coordinator will engage and work with the relevant stakeholders to facilitate and develop transition and cutover plans for the Shared LIS project ensuring key activities for a safe and successful Go Live are documented and risks/issues identified are escalated and managed through the relevant governance structures. The role will be responsible for developing a framework for cutover activity requirements materials/resources to support the development certifying the complexities of the implementation are carefully considered.

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Demonstrated experience in cutover planning and support.
  • Demonstrated resilience and capacity to perform under pressure and with competing priorities.
  • Highly developed problemsolving skills through effective analysis of issues and options.
  • Ability to understand and articulate the business needs to support Shared LIS stakeholders in the transition planning and cutover activities
  • Experience in coordinating resources across a range of concurrent tasks in multiple locations.
  • Experience in establishing and coordinating communication protocols in a complex project.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Logistical management.
  • Travel between Alfred Health Western Health and Monash Health sites will be required.
  • Weekend and outside of usual business hours during the cutover period will be required.
