Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job
Working within the finance department for the Financial Controller this position will be responsible for managing the day to day accounting analysis and reporting including assisting and overseeing the monthend reconciliations. This position will be responsible for the preparation of the annual financial statements and other statutory reporting requirements such as tax returns for both internal and external reporting as well as managing the audit process and helping with the implementation of new accounting standards. In addition this position will play a key part in managing and developing the offshore finance team.
Main Accountabilities
Monthly
- Month end close including preparation of balance sheet reconciliations accruals provisions acquisition accounting including providing analysis and commentary of significant movements month on month.
- General ledger reconciliations and cost centre maintenance
- Banking reconciliation and requirements are completed
- Maintenance of Fixed assets & other schedules
- Review of transactional information to ensure all information is captured and reported accurately.
Reporting
- Preparation of internal accounting papers documenting the impact of any new transaction or accounting standard on the business.
- Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met and reporting procedures are uptodate with legislated requirements
- Preparation of monthly PAYG BAS GST and FBT returns
Year End
- Update and manage yearend compliance timetable
- Prepare internal recharge documents and invoices/advice papers
- Preparation of the annual Statutory Financial Statements including managing the coordination of the annual audit process.
- Preparation of annual income taxation returns
- Preparation of YTD balance sheet reconciliations accruals and provisions
- Work with the team to ensure a clean and timely yearend audit
General Administrative
- Report and liaise directly with Finance Controller and other member of the finance team assist with ad hoc duties.
- Responsible for managing and developing the offshore finance team.
- Escalate and report system related issues and errors to system accountant.
Customer Service
- Building relationships and responding to all internal/external customer queries;
- Dealing with internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner in order to achieve resolution on any practice issues.

Relevant Experience/Qualifications
- 5 years of experience
- Dynamic independent and driven individual

- Working knowledge of accounting process Australian Accounting standards financial and KPI reporting
- Strong Excel skills
- A proven team leader able to motivate and lead a small team
- Proficient in Excel

- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Uses initiative to identify and resolve issues
- High attention to detail
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance Commerce or related discipline
- Qualified member of CA or CPA
- 5 years post qualification exposure in an Australian accounting environment highly desirable
- Experience in Retail or Medical industry essential
- Experience managing teams preferred
- NetSuite experience preferred
- Strong stakeholder management experience with the ability to strong relationship while managing expectations within a fast paced environment.
