The role of this Personal CareAssistant
Our personal care assistantsjoin our clients support team providing reliable essential care and supportin their home. You will be employed byHomeCareDirect on behalf of the client and your focus will be to support themonly. This role will be to cover 12hrs aweek on a Monday and Friday 6hrs each day. You should be flexible to cover additional shifts if needed.
About the Client and Duties
Our client is a young man withspecial needs autism and limited mobility. He lives at home with his family in the Driffield area and you will berequired to support him at home in the rural setting where he lives.
He enjoys cooking bakingcrafts drawing board games pool riding out on his scooter photographyanimals wildlife shopping and collecting Marvel and DC memorabilia.
He does require some personalcare but there is no moving and handling involved.
Our client requires supportwith meal making loading and unloading his scooter into the van and you willhelp with cleaning and tidying all of our clients living spaces and bedchanges and make sure his areas are sanitised as he has brittle asthma.
When out and about you willmake sure he is safe and well supported constantly as autism can make him feelvulnerable. You will make his life fun and interesting by creating things to dowithin his ability range.
Requirements
Training and Support:
We provide comprehensive paidtraining to CQC standards covering:
- Full induction
- Safeguarding Adults
- Health & Safety / FirstAid / Food Hygiene
- Moving & Handling
- Personal Care
- Autism
All training must be completedbefore the start date with training hours paid at minimum wage
Requirements:
- This post is exempt under The Equality Act 2010Schedule 9 Part 1 there is a genuine occupational requirement to recruit female support workers only
- Experience of autism and learning disabilities
- You should have the means toeasily commute to the rural village of Driffield so ideally be a driver withaccess to your own vehicle
- You should be flexible to coveradditional shifts if needed and be able to change your working hours ifnecessary for the client
- Commitment to longtermpersoncentred care
- You must be reliablecompassionate and committed to respecting confidentiality
