The Software Engineering Intern position resides in the Advanced Technology Group at CableLabs. Our team plays a crucial role in developing forwardfacing technologies that shape the future of the cable industry.The Advanced Technology Group develops future solutions to todays networking problems. We specialize in wireless networks especially WiFi and develop prototypes and proofofconcept demonstrations for the technology powering the networks of tomorrow.

Interns at CableLabs will experience the technology innovation process by living it. As part of the Advanced Technology Group interns will learn realworld hardware prototyping and software development by being part of a team of experts across HW SW and systems integration.
This position will expose the Intern to critical HW and SW prototyping skills for developing new technologies and demonstrating their value. Radio Frequency and analog digital and mixed signal design characterization and analysis will be done. Implementation of control SW on microcontrollers and virtualized platforms will be explored. The Intern will learn how PCBs are made and be exposed to rapidprototyping technology for HW systems Including 3d printing PCB design CNC operation and HW debugging.

- Design and implement a variety of software ranging from embedded firmware to user interfaces.

- Participate in innovation sessions where you will push the boundaries of whats possible in the realm of networking.
Qualifications
What Is a Must Have
- Embrace the spirit of outsidethebox thinking as you evaluate existing technological solutions propose design alternatives and shape the future of networking technology in the realms of DOCSIS WiFi 5G IoT and PON!
- Design implement and test a variety of RF/analog/digital hardware and software for networking applications ranging from embedded firmware to radio access networks to analog/digital optical systems.
- Document your hardware and software creations with precision from solution finding through hardware/SW implementation and test.
- Participate in innovation sessions where you will push the boundaries of whats possible in the realm of nextgen hardware for networking.
What Will Set You Apart
- Exposure to Keysight ADS or similar RF layout simulation EDA tools.
- Familiarity with common microcontrollers and/or digital design with FPGAs and SoCs
- Prior experience with PCB design layout and manufacturing
- Experience with rapid prototyping technologies and debugging
- Education or experience with common RF circuits and systems for communications platforms (transmitters receivers amplifiers filters control systems Software Defined Radios FPGAs etc).
