Lecturer
The University of Florida invites applications for an Assistant Instructional Professor position (nontenure track) to work in the School of Teaching and Learning focused on coordinating and teaching in the online elementary education program offered through UF Online. The School of Teaching and Learning focuses on issues that impact 21st century education and teacher education as faculty and students study the intersections of curriculum teaching and teacher education with society and policy in an increasingly diverse world. This position builds upon a rich tradition of excellence in teaching and scholarship on the interrelationships between schools and larger societal contexts. The successful applicant will join a collaborative cohesive and energetic community of educators/scholars within the College who are committed to high quality teaching research and service. We welcome a candidate whose teaching and scholarship focuses on practical theoretical and innovative approaches toward educator preparation and professional learning throughout the career span including mentor teacher training and support. Our online elementary education program was designed to be competencybased using the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices and HighLeverage Practices as the foundation. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides a framework for the approach to teaching all learners. The online elementary program is new and joins several other successful alternative pathways to teaching offered at UF (https://education.ufl/teacherapprenticeship/.
The successful applicant for the Assistant Instructional Professor position is expected to teach and advise undergraduate students in our online elementary education program; to support adjunct instructors and faculty who teach courses and/or supervise interns in the program; and to act as program coordinator for this FLDOE and CAEP accredited teacher preparation program. In addition we will continue to pursue the use of this online elementary program as a state Registered Apprenticeship program and this nontenure track faculty member will be the main point of contact for that alternative route. This 12month appointment will begin in May 2025. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
