Job Description

As the Chief Financial Officer at Vorbeck you will be responsible for overseeing the companys financial health at a strategic level including driving financial planning managing budgets guiding investment decisions and ensuring strong cash flow. You will collaborate closely with the leadership team to make datadriven decisions that drive business growth and profitability.

In addition you will oversee and optimize accounting operations across our Maryland and North Dakota locations ensuring the integration of efficient systems and processes. Your role will involve leading the development and of robust accounting procedures that align with the companys broader financial strategy. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial leadership a deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to drive operational improvements that support the growth and scalability of a small to midsized business.

  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts prepare financial reports for senior management and the Board of Directors and conduct costbenefit analysis for potential projects investments and strategic initiatives.
     
  • Risk Management: Manage risks associated with cash capital resource allocation accounting compliance and strategy.
     
  • Fundraising and Investment: Make informed decisions about where to allocate company funds to achieve the best return on investment identify potential investment opportunities that align with the companys strategic goals develop fundraising strategies to attract new investors and manage relationships with lenders and investors to secure financing for business growth including preparing investment and financial due diligence documentation.
     
  • Accounting Oversight: Provide fullscale accounting support and ensure GAAP compliance through maintenance oversight and timely preparation of: cash management; payroll; accounts payable; accounts receivable; general ledger; financial reporting; equity/capitalization data.
     
  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with various departments to implement strategic initiatives providing financial expertise to support decisionmaking and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders such as vendors and customers.
     
  • Government Contracts: Ensure DCAA and FAR compliance on government contracts by segregating costs preparing incurred cost rates developing RFP budgets and submitting invoices through the WAWF system. Preparing program budgets and other financial documentation in support of government proposals.
     
  • Tax Strategy & Compliance: Oversee account reconciliations yearend closeout and tax return preparation. Manage tax strategies to optimize the companys tax position and ensure compliance with laws including overseeing the timely filing of corporate payroll and sales tax returns identifying taxsaving opportunities like R&D incentives and ensuring proper documentation. Additionally ensure the timely submission of regulatory filings such as Franchise Tax and Form 5500s.
     
  • Records Management: Organize and maintain digital and physical files in accordance with record management policies while staying current on audit best practices and relevant state federal and local laws regarding company operations.
     
  • Other tasks may be required including giving external technical presentations technical support for proposals customer interactions etc.

Qualifications :

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Finance Accounting or related field
  • Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Experience

  • Minimum eight 8 years experience working in financial management preferably in a small business environment.
  • Minimum eight 8 years experience with invoicing Accounts Payable Account Receivable and General Ledger.
  • Minimum eight 8 years experience in payroll processing and systems.
  • Proficient in GAAP accounting principles
  • Experience working on and/or with Government contracts and with DCAA and DCMA regulations policies and guidelines
  • Skilled in monthly closing reconciliations and job costing
  • Experience with product costing and bills of material

Skills and Abilities

  • Selfmotivated individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
  • Expertise in driving fundraising efforts and securing strategic capital
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Google Workspace and Microsoft Suite with expertise in Excel
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detailoriented professional with a strong focus on accuracy and quality
  • Strong analytical problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
  • Able to obtain or already possess a security clearance with the US DoD
