About the Role

The Automation Engineer V Senior Lead is responsible for overseeing the discipline at a project level and managing the project discipline budget on simple to complex projects of all sizes. The Senior Lead has a thorough understanding of the development and field implementation of documents through all project phases. The Senior Lead Engineer is responsible for directing and managing the workflows and of design and engineering support staff (EntryLevel to Senior) to meet client expectations and project goals.

 

Core Activities

  • Works with a Project Manager on proposal development manhour planning and project scheduling for the discipline scope of work on large advanced/complex projects.
  • Identifies and resolves advanced noncompliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
  • Develops construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on advanced and complex projects without oversight.
  • Provides lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses submittal reviews punch list development and construction progress reports.
  • Conducts technical and leadership interviews.
  • Conducts quality checking of documents for advanced complex projects (e.g. technical verification of design calculations and documentation) and drives overall project quality.
  • Provides mentorship to Discipline Engineer I II III and IV and/or Designer I II and III
  • Leads advanced project system design programming and master planning with support from Senior Engineer
  • Leads a team of discipline staff in the of advanced projects discipline design and engineering

The expectation is that the Automation Group Leader will spend 1020 of their time engaged in these management functions and for the remainder or the persons time they will continue to operate as a team member in the role of Automation Engineer. 

Responsibilities of a Group Leader:

  • Personalized development planning of staff both from a technical and softskill perspective
  • Provide technical guidance for their career planning reviews and goal planning
  • Work with Market Team Leader for employee work assignments matching up staff on projects that align with their goals and/or current skillsets and capabilities
  • Serve as mentor or identify other mentors to facilitate growth technically and professionally in accordance with a persons unique skillset and passions
  • Act as an employee advocate by championing on behalf of their staff and playing an active role in their overall fulfillment
  • Help identify and develop new leaders and owners

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications

  • ABETaccredited Bachelors degree in disciplinespecific field of study (ChemE ME or EE) 
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience preferably in a design firm setting 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer registration
  • ISA Certified Automation Professional
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in disciplinespecific software
  • Advanced knowledge of cGMPs and/or experience with advanced technology industry projects such as R&D labs biotechnology pharmaceutical food and nutrition and/or consumer products
  • Attend external seminars/conferences for professional development
  • Expert experience with performing engineering calculations and developing and implementing list of discipline systems designs
  • Expert experience with implementing fundamental design aspects of control system schematics panel fabrication drawings and field wiring plans design
  • Expert experience developing Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Expert experience with the electrical code
  • Advanced experience with other applicable industry standards
  • Advanced experience with applicable mechanical and building codes
  • Advanced experience and knowledge with designing Safety Instrumented Systems
  • Proficient with advanced internal and external crossdiscipline project team coordination
  • Proficient with advanced coordination with construction trade partners vendors and manufacturers

Proficient at advanced design calculations without supervision
